Balthazar

Moules Frites & Escargot

This bottle of wine was about half my age!

Cote de Boeuf for two

Light sorbet to finish off the meal
Balthazar is my favorite restaurant in NYC. It is French food done beautifully. Check out sberryandlemons.yelp.com for my review. It was a wonderful dinner filled with decadent food, impeccable service and great company. Can't wait to go back.

Pretty Stores

This store is so cute! It's very sweet and you almost wish it was your bedroom! These glasses with polka dots are definitely on my wish list this year! They carried a lot of cute items for the home. The ladies at the store were so helpful and very friendly! They made me want to spend the day there!

Shake Shack

Thrilled that a Shake Shack opened right around the corner from my sister's apartment! It's spacious and actually a legit restaurant and not just a "shack". There actually was no line! I walked right in and straight to the counter. Easy, breezy, beautiful. The burger reminds me of In-N-Out. Little in size, affordable, fresh and packs a big punch. The bun has a "Hawaiian Bread" flavor and is a little sweet. I still prefer In-N-Out, but when I'm in NY, this is where I'll get my fix.

Compost Cookie?!

These cookies at Momofuku Milk Bar really live up to the hype. They are amazing! If you want to avoid the frenzy at the East Village location, check out the location Midtown near the Chambers Hotel. It is quite and calm and has all the cookies. They don't have the full menu, but you can still get your fix. I got the Compost Cookie, Corn Cookie and Cornflake Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Cookie. They are rich, satisfying and affordable at 3 for $5! Also, at this location, they let you sit in the Chambers Hotel while you eat your snacks.

Limelight Marketplace

Is it a church? Is it a club? Is it a marketplace? Actually, it's all three! Well, it's currently acting just as a marketplace. This is an interesting little spot. The building is an old church that was converted at one point into a night club. But just recently it has been once again made over and now it's a place for food and shopping! You can get gelato, coffee, cheese, bread and more. There are little booths that sell jewelry and other trinkets. It's a fun little place to indulge your stomach and soul!

Shabu Shabu & Sukiyaki

My sister and I took our cousin out to eat for her birthday. She just started at NYU and surely has not been eating properly. So we thought we'd feed her some hearty homey Asian food. We headed over to the East Village and decided to go to Shabu Tatsu. We were really lucky and just barely beat the dinner rush. We sat down right away. The portions are pretty generous and we were debating between ordering shabu shabu or sukiyaki. I was pleasantly surprised to hear my cousin say both! Because my sister and I who are major eaters were thinking the same thing. My tiny cousin who probably weighs about 90 pounds could put it away!! I was impressed. She has the gene I guess! Between the 3 of us, we ordered 2 portions of shabu shabu and 2 portions of sukiyaki! It was a delicious meal of comfort food and sweet sake followed by creamy ice cream. I love the East Village!

Kaiten Fun

Conveyor belt sushi is maybe not necessarily the best food ever, but it's always a lot of fun!

East Japanese Restaurant
There are several locations around NYC and New Jersey. They all have their own websites.

Burger Extravaganza Continued

pre dinner cocktails
Chateauneuf-du-Pape
escargot and chicken oyster fricassee
olivier's alsatian tarte flambee
original db burger
sirloin burger filled with braised short ribs and yes, that is foie gras on a parmesan bun
braised lamb shank
pot au feu
I love complimentary desserts!
I love burgers and I love trying the restaurants of celeb chefs. This Daniel Boulud restaurant did not disappoint. The burger was juicy and decadent. It was small in circumference, but sat quite tall. The escargot was delicious and each dish was more delectable than the last. We literally had to roll ourselves home.
